Tetrahydroquinoline derivatives, process for preparing the same and anti-peptic ulcer compositions containg the same.

(a) Tetrahydroquinoline derivatives and salts thereof represented by the formula,

(wherein R<1a> and R<2a>, are the same or different from each other, and are each hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy or alkoxy-alkoxy; R<3a> and R<4a> are the same or different from each other, and are each hydrogen, a halogen, alkyl having 1 to 3 halogen atoms as the substituents alkoxy, alkyl, nitro or alkanoyl; l is 0 or 1; and
b) imidazopyridine derivatives and salts thereof represented by the formula,

(wherein any one of Z and Y is -CH=, then the other one is a nitrgoen; R<1b> and R<2b> are the same or different from each other, and are each hydrogen, alkoxy-carbonyl, halogen, alkyl, amino or hydroxy; R<3b>, R<4b> and R<5b> are the same or different from each other, and are each hydrogen, alkoxy or alkyl; A is alkylene group; l is 0 or 1; provided that when Y is -CH=, Z is a nitrogen atom, and l is 0, then R<3b>, R<4b> and R<5b> should not be hydrogen at the same time) both having excellent anti-peptic ulcer activities, and are useful as treating agents for peptic ulcers such as gastric ulcer, duodenum ulcer and the like.
