BUBBLE MODE INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain much superior recording and reproducing characteristics while a recording film is a single layer by dispersing pulverous metallic particles and org. material into a metallic carbide matrix thereby constituting the recording film. CONSTITUTION:The recording film 12 the pulverous metallic particles and org. material in the metallic carbixe matrix is formed in one stage by using plasma. Bubbles 13 are formed on the film 12 by irradiation of a laser beam for recording. Reproduction is executed by irradiating the laser beam of the intensity of 1/5-1/10 the intensity of the beam for recording. The irradiated reproducing beam is diffracted in conformity with the bubble shape in the part where the bubbles are formed and therefore the intensity of the reflected or transmitted light is considerably different from the intensity of the reflected or transmitted light in the flat part where no bubbles are formed. The reproduction of good CNR is thus made possible if the intensity other reflected or transmitted light is detected by a photodetector.
