PURPOSE:To improve the separation resistance of a catalyzer supporting layer to maintain catalytic performance for a long term by forming an intermediate layer on an inside wall or glow plug surface in a precombustion chamber, and a surface layer to support catalytic metal on it. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer and a surface layer on it are at least partially formed on the inside wall or glow plug surface 2 in a precombustion chamber 1. The material of the above layers are selected with consideration of its wettability or solid solubility and heat expansion coefficient for ceramic base member. In other words, one of nitric aluminum, mullite, and silicon carbide is used for the intermediate layer, and one of alumina, silica, magnesia, titania, zirconia, and yttria is used for the surface layer. Consequently the surface layer working as a catalyzer supporting layer can be improved in its separation resistance to maintain a catalytic performance for a long term. |
