PURPOSE:To provide a lipid composition containing a dolichol, a triacylglycerol and a nonionic surfactant at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:The objective lipid composition useful as an agent for promoting the hematopoietic function of man and animal contains (A) the compound of formula I (the group of formula II is trans-isoprene unit; the group of formula III is cis-isoprene unit; n is 12-18) and/or its ester, (B) the compound of formula IV (R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are 3-10C fatty acid residue) and (C) a nonionic surfactant, at weight ratios of 1:(1-100):(2-100). The compound of formula I which is one of the active components can be extracted from the organs of mammals, or synthesized in large quantities, in high purity by the 5C extension of the polyprenyl fraction extracted from the leaf of a plant such as Cedrus deodara. The compound of formula IV is present widely in nature and can be obtained also by a synthetic means. |
