PURPOSE:To prevent a terminal resource from destruction by protecting a device intrinsic information storage mechanism when device intrinsic information is set up. CONSTITUTION:When the information is set up on off-line basis by an operator's indication, a terminal 3 places a form overlay storage mechanism 6 in a protected state (wherein download operation from a host computer 1 is inhibited). When the host computer 1 loads a form overlay pattern down, the terminal 3 returns an error to the host computer 1. When the contents of the form overlay storage mechanism 6 are backed up (saved) in a floppy disk device 9 by an operator's indication on the terminal 3, the form overlay storage mechanism 6 is released from being protected. |
