A pneumatic tyre with transverse slots formed in the tread is described. Each transverse slot opens with one end in a longitudinal groove extending in the circumferential direction of the tyre, and has in the longitudinal section of the profile of the tyre a width which increases in a fan-like shape from a specific depth of profile to the base of the longitudinal groove, as a result of which the transverse slots contribute to maintaining the initial running properties of the tyre with respect to braking effect and driving safety on a wet road up until the final stage of profile wear and to preventing uneven wear of the tread. |
