PURPOSE:To prevent a strip from causing unstable meandering of floating from a rolling line, by moving or slanting the vertical roll of an interstand edger in the longitudinal direction of strip. CONSTITUTION:In an installation for edging a strip 5 by arranging an edger 6, consisting of a pair of vertical rolls 9a, 9b, and a looper roll 7, for providing tension to the strip 5 at the upstream side of edger 6, between mill stands 3, 4 consisting each of work rolls 1 and backup rolls 2; the edger roll 6 is made slantable in the longitudinal direction of strip 5 around spherical seats 11a, 11b by actuating cylinders 12a, 12b, through housings 10a, 10b used for supporting the rolls 9a, 9b, and are also made movable in the same direction by offset cylinders 17a, 17b. When the floating of strip 5 from a rolling line is detected by vertical-movement detectors 14a, 14b, at least one of vertical rolls 9a, 9b is slanted, and when the meandering of strip 5 is produced with its advancing, at least one of them is moved. |
