PURPOSE:To obtain a guide unit which enables the confirmation of detection errors, by arranging a current running position detecting means, a course guiding information generating means, a correction specifying information generating means, and a color display means adapted to display information for specifying the correction of the current running position detecting characteristic in the color different from information for guiding the running course. CONSTITUTION:An arithmetic unit 16 detects the current running position of a vehicle using detection signals of a running distance sensor 10 and a bearing sensor 12 to determine running track. Moreover, the unit 16 is given output signals of a keyboard 20 and a start switch 22 and a map data from a map data memory 24. On the other hand, the image display command obtained by the unit 16 is controlled 26 for display and the running track of the vehicle is displayed as image on a map with a display unit 28. When the errors in the detection of the current running position, information is generated to specify the correction of the current running position detecting characteristic and information for specifying the correction of detecting characteristic is displayed in the color different from the previous display color for running course guiding information.
