PURPOSE:To obtain a self-lock releasing apparatus with simple constitution and free from trouble by maintaining the constant revolution between a stem nut for vertically moving a male-screw rod member and a starting gear meshed with the male-screw rod member. CONSTITUTION:When self-lock is released, a wedge member 31 is shifted to a driving handle 37 side by turning the driving handle 37. Since, at this time, the inclined surface 33 of the wedge member 31 slides on the inclined surface 15 of a ring member 16, a stem nut 8 lowers with the ring member 16 by the portion of displacement in the vertical direction due to the inclined surface 33 of the wedge member 31. Through this displacement, the teeth 9 of the stem nut 8 is positioned at the intermediate position of a screw groove 10, without being attached with the screw 5 of a male-screw rod member 6, and self-lock is released, and the male-screw rod member 6 is lowered by the portion of displacement by the dead weight of a water gate 2. At this time, also a starting gear 28 revolves, and the male-screw rod member 6 is lowered by said revolution.
