PURPOSE:To produce a crystal containing no bubble by adding one kind among Y2O3, HfO2, MgO and Ga2O to a star ruby material. CONSTITUTION:One kind among Y2O3, HfO2, MgO and Ga2O is added to the star ruby material in case of producing the star ruby by a converging floating zone method. Besides, in this case the addition amount is regulated to about >=0.1wt%, preferably about 0.3-1.0wt%. This method prevents the formation of bubbles in the crystal produced.
