PURPOSE:To clean up the inside of a heating tube without lowering the heat exchang ing efficiency of the heating tube by a method in whic a brush cleaner with a string is flowed down in a fallen state with the flow of a liquid in the inside of the heating tube and moved in a sliding manner along the inner surface of the heating tube by dragging the string for cleaning. CONSTITUTION:In cleaning the inside of a heating tube 3 by means of a brush cleaner 10 and a controller 29, the cleaner 10 is positioned slidably at the end of the inlet inner surface of the tube 3, and a string connected to the cleaner 10 is released from tension, whereupon the cleaner 10 is flowed down with the flow of cooling water in the inside of the tube 3. Since the through hole 14 is closed with a hollow ball 16 provided at the tip of the string 28 and the brush 11 is fallen down, the cleaner 10 itself flows down at the same speed as the cooling water. When the cleaner 10 is stopped at a given position, tension is given to the string 28, and a stopper 18 comes into contact with a coupler 17. As soon as the brush 11 is retracted in relation to the cleaner 12, the brush 11 is raised, and when the string 28 is rewound by operating a control motor 26, the brush 11 moves in a sliding manner on the inner surface of the tube 3 to remove scales deposited on the inner surface.
