The message display board has the assembly of letters or figures made by juxtaposing appropriate unit surfaces (5) into groups that can show up or retract. This allows the visible surfaces to contrast with the panel base. - Each unit surface has a first profile (6) fixed to the base and a second profile (7) articulated to the first to either close over the latter to leave an externally visible face (11) or to pivot 90 deg. to conceal this face. A spring leaf moves the second profile from one position to the other and a device masks the surface when the second profile is open.
