An electric cooker (1) having a baking oven (2) and having a cooking hob or cooking area (7) which is fitted with a plurality of electrically heated, controllable-power cooking points. A central control unit (11) having a control system (13) for each of the cooking points is provided for controlling the power of the individual cooking points.
