The invention relates to an apparatus for the lateral joining of a multiplicity of coils (24, 24') made of plastic or metal wire to form a wire-link strip, e.g. for paper machines, the pitch of the turns of adjacent coils (24, 24') being opposite but equal and the coils being conveyed through a gap between a driven roll (23) and an abutment (21) by means of the roll (23).
