The invention concerns an asphalt paving machine (1) for laying asphalt on a roadway (2) of the kind laying grooves or groove-like indentations (23, 23'). The asphalt paving machine lays out an initial layer (6) of rather porous asphalt compound on the roadway, after which the layer is compacted and finally evened off using a surface compactor or similar equipment. In the area of the individual groove (23, 23') in the roadway, the asphalt layer (6) is formed with a primarily string-shaped or bead-shaped section (24, 24') following the groove, which is raised above the surrounding section (25, 25', 25'') of the thickening layer of he section in question in addition to what is required to simply fill out the groove. During the subsequent treatment with the surface compactor, this extraordinary thickened asphalt compound is compacted too primarily the same density as the surrounding, original thinner sectional layers. To accomplish this, the asphalt paving machines has been equipped with at least one pair of smoothing roller parts (14, 14') that partly can be placed obliquely to each other, partly be jointly offset along the width extension of the paving machine. The oblique setting and offsetting of the smoothing roller parts is controlled by detectors that not only read deviations in direction, but also the depth of the grooves.<IMAGE> |
