PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyol having low viscosity easily and economically, and to facilitate the separation of unreacted material, by polymerizing a monomer such as styrene in a polymerization medium produced by adding an alcoholic or aliphatic solvent to a polyol and removing the solvent from the polymerization product. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be produced by polymerizing a monomer mixture consisting of (A) 40-100(wt)% styrene and/or (meth)acrylic acid ester and (B) 0-60% other monomer in a polymerization medium consisting of (C) 50-98% polyol and (D) 2-50% alcoholic and/or aliphatic solvent (preferably methanol, n-hexane, etc.), and removing the solvent from the product usually under heating. The component C is preferably an unsaturated polyoxyalkylene polyol containing urethane bond and produced by bonding a polyhydroxyl compound to a saturated polyoxyalkylene polyol via polyisocyanate compound. |
