PURPOSE:To eliminate an uncomfortable feeling o the visitor by the illumination and the image pickup and to make an image pickup camera compact by storing the image pickup camera consisting of a MOS type solid-state image pickup element sensitive to the infrared radiation, an optical lens and a control circuit together with the infrared ray emitting means for illuminating at night in a casing. CONSTITUTION:An optical unit 5 of an image pickup camera 1 is disposed on an upper part of a casing 4 and a doorphone unit 6 is disposed on a lower part. By operating a push button 3, a doorphone master device in a room is called out to carry out the communication with the inside of the room through a speaker 8 and a microphone 9. On a front surface of a black box 11 disposed so as to cover a MOS type solid-state image pickup element of a printed circuit board 10, an optical unit 5 which is constituted by disposing an optical lens 12 and a control circuit are mounted on a printed circuit board or the like in a back of the speaker 8 in the casing 4, the suitable number of infrared ray emitting diodes 13 are disposed in a side part of the black box 11 and they light up together with the start of the communication by the pressing operation of a push button 7 and the lighting condition is maintained for a prescribed time. Thereby, an entire of the image pickup camera can be thinned and the illuminated condition for photographing at night or the like is not sensed by the visitor so that the uncomfortable feeling is not given.
