The invention relates to a relaxation and stretching hanging bed for universal application in the fields of health and fitness. This is especially intended for the prevention of pain in the back, ligaments and joints. By being suspended by the feet - using commercially available special foot cuffs - the body is unburdened and blood flow is improved. According to the invention, it is provided that a ladder be designed such that a cushioned lying surface is located in the middle. On the corners of the ladder combined with the lying surface there are rollers which serve to facilitate movement of the element and as a spacer relative to the wall when the hanging bed is suspended. The relaxation and stretching hanging bed is suspended in a rail fixed to the wall by means of a mounting. The hanging bed can be used universally in that the individual using the device sits in front of the device on the lower cushioning element using the special foot cuffs. By stretching the legs upwards it is possible to hook on to a rung which is easy to reach by means of the hooks present on the foot cuffs, and to pull oneself up to the desired height in a simple manner by hooking each foot alternately into the next higher rung, until the body has reached an optimum relaxation and stretching hanging position. In the same way, it is also possible to descend by hooking in each foot alternately.
