<p>PURPOSE:To enable intake air to be distributed uniformly and also increased quantitatively through dissolving the dispersion in the areas of passage at the end of opening, by making the inner periphery surface of the surge tank side opening of a branch air-intake passage to be composed of a taper section and a straight section having a specific shape respectively. CONSTITUTION:The air intake passage of a multiple cylinder engine E is made up of one air intake passage 1 on the upper stream side thorough which intake air for the all cylinders passes, and the other air intake passage 2 on the down stream side which diverges from said passage 1. In addition, on the upper end of each branch air-intake passage 2a, a flanged section 2A for connecting it to a surge tank 3 is provided, and the flanged section 2A is provided with a circular opening 8. In this case, within the inner periphery surface of the circular opening 8, a portion of a specified length adjacent to the end of opening 8c is formed into the straight section 8a of a cylindrical shape. In addition, within said inner periphery surface, a portion below the straight section 8a is joined to the straight section 8a evenly, and formed into a taper section 8b, in which the area of passage becomes narrower gradually toward the down stream side.</p> |
