The invention relates to a belt buckle having a buckle body (10), on each side of which an angular cutout (42) with an edge tip (50) is formed, in which a latch pin (44) lies movably which can be actuated by a buckle release (62). The cutout (42) is provided with a sloping face (54) which runs from a first section of the cutout up to a second section. Adjoining an abutting face (66) of the buckle release (62, 64) is a sloping face (68) which runs counter to its releasing slide direction and into the unlocking position of the latch pin (44). Both sloping faces prevent the latch pin from sticking to the said cutout edge tip (50) in an apparent locking position. <IMAGE>
