In the case of a vacuum switching chamber having at least two hollow-cylindrical insulating bodies, the metallic damping screen which surrounds the switching contacts is held by the L-flanges which connect the insulating bodies, possibly with the interposition of an adaptor ring. In particular in order to simplify installation and to reduce the soldering tasks it is proposed to design the damping screen such that it can be plugged in. A corresponding groove is arranged in the L-flanges or in the adaptor ring.
