An electrical machine, such as a motor or generator, is specified which has (in a concentric arrangement with respect to one another) a stator (1), a rotor (5), a shaft (6) which is driven by the rotor, and one or more bearing devices for the shaft. It is provided that, around the shaft (6), the following elements which are of tubular construction and are possibly terminated at one end are arranged following one another: the bearing devices (4) for the shaft (6), the support (3), the rotor (5) and the stator (1), furthermore that the connection between the stator (1) and the support (3) on the one hand and between the rotor (5) and the shaft (6) on the other hand is produced by means of two mechanical connecting systems (2 and 56), for example in the form of flanges which act in two planes for this purpose, run at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the shaft (6) and oppose one another or are located opposite one another with respect to the stator and rotor. <IMAGE>
