In the prodn. of polyalkynes (I) by polymerisation of alkynes (II) in inert liqs. with active metal catalyst (III), the novelty is that a mixt. of Ti tetrabenzyl (IIIA) and Li alkyls (IIIB) is used as (III). (III) are used in amts. of 0.01-20 (wt.%) w.r.t. (II), whilst (III) consists of 0.1-10 pts. (IIIB)/pt. (IIIA). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is esp. useful in the prodn. of (co)polyacetylenes. It gives prods. with a globular structure, which can be doped with the usual dopants to produce electroconductive systems, which are more electroconductive and chargeable and dischargeable than usual. Undoped and doped (I) are esp. useful in the electronics sector and as electrode materials.
