<p>A flexible tube houses fiber optic guides for illuminating light from source, to ghe observation region such as the inside of a blood vessel. An image transmitting fiber transmits the image back to the receiving adaptor and the cine camera. A syringe pumps a clear physiological saline solution through a liquid guide passage to an observation region, where it temporarily displaces the opaque liquid e.g. blood. To minimise the amount of saline solution and the effect of its pressure on the walls of the blood vessel, the pressure and flow of saline solution is cyclically varied by a unit in scynchronism with a heart beat sensor output.</p> |
