PURPOSE:To shorten time required for defrosting and reduce the discharge amount of the cool air into a room to be air-conditioned and at the same time reduce pollution of the air in an air-conditioned room by blowing cold air from only the front face of an air conditioner during room heating and defrosting. CONSTITUTION:An air conditioner gas outlet openings respectively at the front face and right and left side faces, and a heat exchanger 4 facing those outlet openings and opening sections 18a and 18b which connect the secondary space 14a and 14b between the outlet openings 5a and 5b with the side 13 of a room to be air-conditioned. During room heating and defrosting and during the ventilation operation the outlet openings on the right and left are closed, and at the same time dampers 15a, 15b, 16a, and 16b which form an air passage which connects the air from the right and left outlet openings with the openings 18a and 18b are provided. |
