摘要 PURPOSE:To produce a transfer-recorded image with high quality even on a recording medium poor in surface smoothness, by providing on a base a layer of an ink prepared by dispersing fine particles of a nonmagnetic filler in a liquid ink comprising fine particles of a ferromagentic material dispersed therein, and providing a thermoplastic resin layer on the ink layer. CONSTITUTION:A layer 5 of an ink which comprises a liquid ink 3 comprising fine particles 3a of a ferromagnetic material in a dispersant 3b and fine particles 4 of a nonmagnetic filler 4 is provided on a base 2, and a thermoplastic resin layer 6 is provided on the ink layer 5 to obtain a thermal transfer material 1. The ferromagnetic material may be, for example, iron or cobalt. The dispersant 3b is a material obtained by dissolving or dispersing a coloring agent in a liquid substance, followed by controlling the viscosity by addition of a resin or the like. The fine particles 4 of the nonmagnetic filler may be any of fine particles of an inorganic or organic material, provided that the fine particles are not liable to be thermally deformed. The fine particles 4 preferably have an average particle diameter of about 0.2-20mum and a spherical particle shape. When the thickness of the ink layer 5 is set to be approximately equal to the diameter of the fine particles 4 of the filler, the ink layer can be provided with better uniformity and stability of the thickness.
