PURPOSE:To obtain a high-output laser without enlarging the volume of a solid- state laser medium by forming the solid-state laser mediums in columnar bodies, corss-sectional areas of which gradually increase or gradually decrease extending over the other ends from one ends, and arranging one or more of the solid-state layer media along the axial direction of a converging reflecting mirror. CONSTITUTION:The shapes of solid-state laser media 10 disposed together with an exciting lamp 3 into a converging reflecting mirror 1 are brought to a conical shape, a top section of which is notched at a right angle, and the media 10 are fitted so as to be tapered to the axial center side extending over the other end 12 from one end 11 along the axial direction of the lamp 3. An output mirror 5 is arranged at a distance l1 from an end surface on one end 11 side, and a total reflection mirror 4 is disposed at a distance l2 smaller than l1 from an end surface on the other end 12 side. Since excitation density per unit area in the larger diametral section of the media 10 is made smaller than a smaller diametral section, only the central section of the media 10 is utilized on a low input, and even the larger diameter section is used effectively for oscillation with the increase of input. |
