PURPOSE:To spring out the raindrop adhered to the surface of an electrode by preventing the contamination of the surface of said electrode with dust or mud, by directly imparting water repelling function to the surface itself of each opposed electrode. CONSTITUTION:An electrode opposed type raindrop detector is constituted of an insulating substrate 10, a pair of opposed electrodes 20, 30 and a pair of plating layers 40, 50. The electrodes 20, 30 are formed in a short strip form from a conductive metal material and fixedly provided to the upper surface 11 of an insulating substrate 10 in parallel to each other so as to provide an interval therebetween. The plating layers 40, 50 are respectively formed into the electrodes 20, 30 by applying a conductive metal material having a water repellent material mixed therein to the electrodes 20, 30 by composite coprecipitation other than the under surface of said electrodes 20, 30. These plating layers 40, 50 are formed in such a state that a large number of water repellent parts 42-42 made up of the water repellent material are scattered to the surface and interior of a plating layer main body 41 consisting of the conductive metal material.
