PURPOSE:To obtain an actuator which is small in size but has a large output, by driving a limit switch, which detects the stop position of a valve shaft, by means of a cam provided onto an output shaft of a speed reduction gear connected to the valve shaft. CONSTITUTION:Only a one-way rotation of the rotating-and-reciprocating motion of a rotary solenoid 6 is transmitted to an input shaft 19 of a speed reduction gear 13 via a one-way coupling 23. When an output shaft 20 rotates by a predetermined angle, a cam 27, which is provided onto the output shaft, drives limit switches 28a and 28b to the OFF-position. Accordingly, since the electric power supply circuit is disconnected from the power source at that time, the electric power supply to the solenoid coil is also suspended. When the limit switches 28a and 28b are driven to the ON-position, the aforementioned operation is reiterated. Thus, since the rotary solenoid 6 can generate the large torque, an actuator, which is small in size but has a large output, can be obtained.
