A method for organizing and displaying EEG data obtained from C EEG channels on a computer system in a user-friendly manner includes placing the C EEG channels into a schematic placement diagram dividing the C EEG channels, using a processor, into G channel groups for each of the G channel groups, combining any of the C EEG channels in such G channel group, using a processor, into a single trace, and for each of the G channel groups, displaying the single trace. A system for organizing and displaying EEG data is also provided. |

1. A method for organizing and displaying EEG data obtained from a plurality of EEG channels on a computer system in a user-friendly manner, comprising:
placing the plurality of EEG channels into a schematic placement diagram; dividing the plurality of EEG channels, using a processor configured to receive EEG signals from an EEG sensor array, into a plurality of channel groups, wherein the plurality of channel groups are determined based on the physical layout of the plurality of EEG channels; producing a single trace for each channel group using a processor configured to combine two or more of the plurality of EEG channels in the channel group into the single trace; for each of the plurality of channel groups, displaying the single trace. |
