<p>A siphon device for a flushing cistern, said device comprising an inverted, generally U-shaped pipe (l9,42), having a first end portion (20,24) and a second end portion (2l,45) joined by an upper connecting part (l8,43), an outlet spigot (22,47) for the cistern connected to the first end portion, the second end portion (2l,45) being in fluid communication with the water in the cistern, the U-shaped pipe being mounted so that it can be vertically reciprocated as a whole, substantially in its own plane, in the cistern, between an upper position in which the connecting part is above the cistern water level (27,54) and a lower position in which the cistern water is caused to fill the connecting part and means (23,25,46,49) connect the first end portion (20,44) to the outlet spigot (42,49), these being designed to accomodate this vertical movement, while maintaining the connection.</p> |
