A piston is proposed, which has on the piston land, in particular between the first and second groove, small ducts, through which the gas which has flowed under the underflank of the compression ring situated above, can be conducted off. As a result, adequate pressurisation in particular of the abutting ends of the ring is to be ensured and disruptions of the lubrication and wear problems are thus to be avoided.
