Unlike the traditional manual selection of destinations for the transmission control device depending on the type of incoming data, the intention is to achieve automatic selection of the various destinations. In a transmission control device, which has at least one parallel data receiving device to receive parallel data, one serial data receiving device to receive serial data, and a control part, the control part establishes whether the parallel data receiving device or the serial data receiving device should receive the data first, and selects one of these receiving devices depending on the result of the reception. The control device can be used in data processing systems.
