PURPOSE:To eliminate the trouble associated with the preparation of a table by rearranging characters disposed in a block while maintaining the arrangement of them in response to the form change of the block in addition to compilation of ruled lines to perform division or connection of blocks. CONSTITUTION:If a division code is read out of a key code memory 303, the vertical/horizontal rang of a block including a cursor is acquired from an internal buffer 304. The texts included in said range are all stored in a work area. Then these texts are put into one of divided blocks. When a code means connection in the memory 303, the position information on two point showing a range of connection are obtained by a cursor, etc. Then the texts of the blocks to be connected together are successively stored in the work area. The stored texts are rearranged in the connected blocks.
