PURPOSE:To facilitate the dynamic allocation of a real storage device to a common area and to utilize the real storage device effectively by arranging a page table which is retrieved by indirect reference in a page table for a segment table. CONSTITUTION:An address part 202, an illegal bit 203, and an indirect display bit 204 are arranged in a page table entry 3201 retrieval based on the virtual address of a page entry to an address converting device and a segment entry. When this bit 203 is 0, the contents of the entry are considered to be legal and when a bit 204 is 0, the actual address of the address part 202 is regarded as the address of a real page to be found and access 205 to the real address is started, thereby finishing the address conversion. When the bit 204 is 1, the address of another page table is indicated and address conversion continuation 206 at the time of indirect display is started. Then, the dynamic allocation of the real storage device to the common area of the entry 201 is facilitated.
