PURPOSE:To speed up responses of feed control by providing a servo feed directing means, advance and retreat shift registers and a data selector for each shaft in an apparatus for automatically control the relative feed of an electrode and a workpiece by the use of a NC unit. CONSTITUTION:A servo feed directing means 28 detects average working voltage between an electrode 1 and a workpiece 2 to generate advance directing pulses AP and retreat directing pulses BP. An advance shift register 15X and a retreat shift register 16X are constituted from n bits provided on each shaft shifted from the lower position to the upper one according to the pulses AP from said means 28 and from the upper position to the lower one according to the pulses BP. A data selector 17X sends the output of central bit of the register 15X to the input of an adding terminal UT of an up-down counter 20X in a servo circuit 27X when said selector receives the pulses AP, and sends the output of central bit of the register 16X to the input of a reduction terminal DT. And distributing pulses from a NC unit 13 are set in parallel in the registers 15X, 16X.
