PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide emulsion good in graininess, hard in gradation, improved in pressure fog resistance, and high in sensitivity by forming flat grains in the presence of a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:The flat grains are formed in the presence of the compound represented by formula I in which Z<1> is an atomic group necessary to form an optionally substituted 3-8-membered hetero ring together with an S atom, and this ring is composed of C, N, O, and S atoms, and it may be condensed with another ring to form a condensed ring. |
