PURPOSE:To secure uniform brightness on all points of a picture by using a signal to be changed in accordance with the height of an image and synchronizing with the scanning of optical beams to correct a differential phase signal. CONSTITUTION:The titled microscope is provided with a light source 41, an objective lens 52 for converging a light beam radiated from the light source 41 on an object, optical beam scanning means 42-51 arranged between the light source 41 and the objective lens 52, detectors 55, 56, 60, 61 consisting of plural photoelectric transfer elements for receiving light from the object, and a signal processing circuit 66 for obtaining a differential phase signal by calculating the difference between signals. The circuit 66 is provided with a correcting means 76 for correcting a differential phase signal 89 by using a signal to be changed by image height and synchronizing with the scanning of a light beam to cancel a bias component of the differential phase signal 89 to be changed by the image height by a correcting signal 88. Consequently, uniform brightness can be secured on all points of a picture and an excellent differential phase image can be obtained.
