PURPOSE:To enhance recording quality by reducing the irregularity of recording density, by providing constitution such that overlap recording is performed so as to be shifted by the width within the length of a recording element in the longitudinal direction thereof with respect to the same band. CONSTITUTION:When a serial head 1 wherein 1 X 10 heat generators 1a each having a size of l X l are arranged in a row is used and the paper feed quantity when paper is fed over a distance of 9.5l from a first band to a second band is longer than 9.5 l, a part (hatching B) to which heat energy is applied only once is generated at the joint part of the first and second bands and the density thereof is lowered as compared with other part but, since no broken character is generated, density irregularity becomes inconspicuous. Contrarily, when paper feed quantity when the paper is fed over the distance of 9.5l from the first band to the second band is shorter than 9.5l, a part (hatching B') to which heat energy is applied three times is generated at the joint part of the first and second bands and the density thereof increases as compared with other part but the degree thereof is low and density irregularity is inconspicuous. |
