<p>A straight-acting mold clamping device of an injection molding machine driven by two motors, which effects mold closure or opening at a high speed and which produces a required mold clamping force without using any large-capacity motor. The mold clamping device has a ball screw (6) that screws into a ball nut (7) which moves together with a movable platen (1) as a unitary structure. The ball screw is coupled to a servo motor (10) via transmission mechanisms (8, 9, 11, 17), and is further coupled to an induction motor (12) via a transmission mechanism, a reduction gear (14) and a clutch (15). There is further provided a numerical controller (20) which controls the servo motor, the induction motor and the clutch. The moving platen that is driven by the servo motor reaches a mold touch position at a high speed, and is then driven with a large force by both the servo motor and the induction motor until it reaches a position where a predetermined force is generated to clamp the mold. Further, at a moment when the moving platen has reached the position where the predetermined mold clamping fforce is generated, the induction motor is controlled by a brake device (13), whereby the moving platen is locked at that position to generate a predetermined clamping force.</p> |
