The invention relates to hydrothermally formed (deformed, shaped) textile sheet materials, in particular upholstery covers, which are hydrothermally formed by the claimed processes under the pressure of a former (forming stamp) by the action of steam at 80 to 140 DEG C. Particularly woven or knitted fabrics based on acrylic and/or modacrylic fibres are hydrothermally formed. They are used as covers for (preferably upholstered) articles, in particular those having a foam core.
