Assemblage of hydroxyl apatite particles and liquid chromatography column containing the same.

An assemblage of hydroxyl apatite secondary particles which is suited for a packing of a liquid chromatography column. The hydroxyl apatite secondary particles have substantially spherical shape and each of them consists essentially of needle-shaped, pillar-shaped or rice grain-shaped hydroxyl apatite crystals having a maximum diameter of the cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the crystal of 10 nm to 50 nm, and a length of the longitudinal axis of 50 nm to 500 nm. The median of the particle size of the secondary particles being 10 mu m to 100 mu m, and not less than 90% of the secondary particles have a particle which is not less than size three times larger than the median of the particle size is not more than 10%.
