PURPOSE:To superposingly display an external input picture and a picture having optional color and shape by providing a color mask register capable of setting a color freely. CONSTITUTION:A picture memory section I stores a digital picture outputted from a picture input section 1. A picture memory section II stores a picture outputted by a control section 3. A color comparator 6 compares a color of each picture element in the picture stored in the picture memory section II with a color set in the color mask register 5 and outputs the picture stored in the picture memory section II4 to a selector section 7 when they are coincident and outputs the picture stored in the picture memory section I2 in case of noncoincidence. Thus, a picture having an optional color is superimposed onto an NTSC picture.
