In a matrix keyboard, particularly a membrane keyboard, switching contact points (K11 to K33) with series resistors (R1) are provided where the row lines (Z1, Z2, Z3) and column lines (S1, S2, S3) cross. To avoid phantom voltages at open switching contact points when a plurality of switching contact points are closed, and so that the switching elements necessary for this purpose can be in pressure technology, there is an ohmic shunting resistor (R2) on each column line (S1 to S3). The series resistors (R1) of the closed switching contact points of a column line and of the row lines which are not triggered are parallel to the shunting resistor (R2) of this column line. In series with this parallel circuit is the series resistor (R1) of the closed switching contact points of this column line and of the triggered row line. <IMAGE>
