The invention relates to a latch lock, in which the latch can be retracted into the lock case as a result of a rotational movement of the pawl shaft. In order to simplify the design of a lock of this type, it is proposed that the latch extension (1) consists entirely or over a part length of a metal having form memory (biometal), and that, during the rotational movement of the pawl shaft (9), a contact (3) is closed for a supply of current into this metal, so that the latch extension (1) experiences a shortening which causes the retraction of the latch (5). <IMAGE>
