In accordance with a method for transferring coded information in a paging system from a stationary or mobile first transmitter/receiver to a mobile second transmitter/receiver (pocket unit) each transmitted message includes a label giving the message a particular identification. The pocket unit is designed to transmit, back to the first transmitter/receiver, a message received signal which may include said identifying label, in response to a push button or automatically.
