PURPOSE:To reduce the size and cost of an original placing table moving type copying machine, by utilizing energy applied to the original placing table on the upper surface of the copying machine main body obtain driving force required when the table is moved in one direction for moving the table in the opposite direction in the course of the reciprocating motion of the original placing table. CONSTITUTION:The energy applied while an original placing table 22 is moved from its exposure terminating position to its exposure starting position by manual operations of an operator is accumulated as elastic force by means of an elastic member 1 and the elastic force is supplied to the original placing table 22 as its driving force while the table 22 is moved from the exposure starting position to the exposure terminating position during the course of a copying process. Therefore, no transmission device which transmits driving force from a motor to be required for causing the original placing table 22 to make reciprocating motions against the main body 21 of this copying machine is required, and thus, the copying machine can be reduced in size and cost.
