PURPOSE:To readily produce the titled compound which is a flame retardant capable of being homogeneously and readily blended with a combustible polymer, by reacting a methylolated aminotriazine with guanidine phosphate in an acidic aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a methylolated aminotriazine, e.g. methylolated melamine, benzoguanamine, ammelide, etc., is normally adjusted to pH 7-8 and guanidine phosphate, e.g. (H2NC:NHNH2)2.H3PO4, etc., is successively added thereto. The resultant mixture solution is then heated at 50-100 deg.C to completely dissolve the latter. Reaction is carried out in a dissolved state for 5min-1hr and pH is reduced with an acid to preferably <=6.5 to afford the aimed powdery compound. furthermore, methylolurea is preferably used in place of part (preferably 10-50%) of the above-mentioned methylolated triazine.
