The subject of the invention is hip joint prostheses composed of a plurality of parts fitted together. A cervico-cephalic prosthesis according to the invention comprises three parts: an anchoring stem 1, whose upper end is fitted with a frustoconical stud 5; a fitting shaft 2, which acts as the neck and which comprises a frustoconical bore 7 in which the shaft 5 is fitted and a frustoconical outer surface 10 having the same angle of opening as the bore 71; and a spherical head 3 provided with a frustoconical bore 11, in which the conical surface 10 is fitted. One application is the replacement of a cervico-cephalic prosthesis by a total prosthesis of the Charnely type, having an adaptable neck length, while leaving in place the anchoring stem. <IMAGE>
