A method and a device for duplicating jaw models in which, during preparation of a duplicate by filling of an impression of an original jaw model with duplicating composition a prefabricated base element is connected in the correct position to the duplicate being formed from the solidifying duplicating composition. The device according to the invention comprises a holding means for temporarily holding an original jaw model provided with a base having a predetermined shape inside a vessel (15) whose open end is releasably connected to the holder; a sealing device (13) consisting of an elastic material for sealing the jaw model, which has been provided with a base, against the interior of the vessel, and a device (17) for introducing a pourable composition.
